City of Edinburgh Council Parks & Greenspaces announced that:
“From tomorrow 27th of February, the gated access at Calton Hill will reopen during daylight hours. The gate will open from 09:30 through to 18:00 daily. From 18:00 a single gate leaf closure will be implemented throughout the evening and overnight (same combination lock code in place). This process will be in place daily, 7 days a week.
From the 24th of March the gate will close at 19:00, from the 21st of April the gate will close at 20:00 and from the 26th of May the gate will close at 22:00.Signage will be placed on the gate to indicate closure times and updated as required.
Contact telephone numbers for both the Council and the Collective Gallery will also be displayed. During closure hours, less abled and blue badge access will be facilitated as it has been whilst full gate closure has been in place across the early part of this year. . .
These are short term measures whilst we work through the requirements and processes to be able to procure and install a robust automated vehicular access system that meets the needs of all users.”
