We applied for Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) status with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) on 18 July, and expected to wait a while before the registration was approved. However we were delighted when it came through on 15 August.
This is another milestone in our development as an organisation. We hope the new status will increase the chances of us securing funding. It also implies taking on greater responsibilities.
Scaling up the trust to respond to the challenges and make the organisation fit for its new charity status will involve a lot of work. As always, the office bearers and the trustees will be indebted to the members for their continuing support, both by renewing subscriptions and by volunteering!
