Council contractors installed portaloos on the grass by the National Monument on Calton Hill, on or before 21 August 2025.
The Trust have asked the council why this has been considered necessary, especially at a time when the summer festivals are almost over. As always, we advise installations should not be on grass as this contributes to erosion.
There are also public toilets available in the Nelson Monument & Collective Gallery (City Observatory).
