Sarah McArthur in the Edinburgh Inquirer highlights the erosion problem on Arthur’s Seat and Calton Hill and quotes Simon Holledge, chair of Calton Hill Conservation Trust.
McArthur reports: “Satellite images also show Calton Hill is looking significantly more worn than other parts of Edinburgh green space. While Calton Hill Conservation Trust has been campaigning for better management of the hill since its creation two years ago, the Trust declared an erosion emergency this year. They explained in a deputation to councillors that it aimed “to draw attention to the condition of the hill, but also to explain the combination of factors that led to its deterioration, and the urgency of taking low-cost but effective measures to remedy it.”
