Hume Walk rainwater runoff channel restored!

By Simon on 12 July 202412 July 2024

A group of energetic volunteers from JLL Scotland, organised by the Edinburgh & Lothian Greenspaces Trust, and working alongside our own volunteers, completed the digging out of the long-buried stone guttering lining Hume Walk.

Many thanks to all involved for some very hard work on 12 July 2024!

The walk, named after the Enlightenment philosopher David Hume, leads down from the north side of the top of the hill to the entrance steps on the southwest side, starting from Regent Road.

By restoring one of the historic features of the hill, we hope to stop surface erosion, especially the displacement of gravel etc down the centre of the paths, as well as making the hill easier to walk across when there is a heavy downpour.
