Friday night/Saturday morning vandalism

By Admin on 24 March 202524 March 2025

Recently we’ve had a number of instances of vandalism. Each time this has happened on a Friday night or Saturday morning (including March 7/8, 14/15, 21/22).

Wheel bins have been moved and pushed over, a fixed bin has ben set on fire and we’ve found a lot of broken glass around the National Monument. We’ve also had dirt bike riders cutting up the turf.

Other parks have unfortunately been experiencing similar vandalism — or worse.

We are hoping that one or two park rangers may be based on the hill in the future, but at the moment they are in Princes Street Gardens. The trustees check the hill regularly, but we may not be there when something happens. So, as always we would be grateful for reports from members — ideally with photos — to <info@caltonhilltrust.org>, or on Bluesky @Caltonhill.Bsky.Social.
