On 25 September, we submitted an “expression of interest” — interest in applying for a grant to contribute to the repair of the Nelson Monument on Calton Hill —to the Crown Estate Scotland Community Capacity Grants Programme.
The Nelson Monument has been closed for several years. There is water ingress and the time-ball mechanism no longer works. The monument belongs to the City of Edinburgh Council.
Unfortunately we heard on 25 October that our “expression of interest” had not been successful. We will try again in summer 2024.
