Thanks to our newest donor, Alan Lawson & the Seven Hills Race, the Trust were able to buy another 60 square metres (m2) of turf to put on barren ground in front of the National Monument — making a total of 300m2.
Five of our team of volunteers were able to help out at short notice and the turf was laid in places where the council had already previously prepared the ground.
The work was done in the cold and rain — and a lot of mud. The area is now protected with pedestrian fencing. We will be monitoring it during the winter.
